New York, NY (December 19th, 2013)– 2011 World Amateur Middleweight champion Evhen Khytrov of the Ukraine, known as ‘The Ukrainian Lion’, and his trainer Buddy McGirt are a knockout of a team. Khytrov’s professional debut in the main event of a nine bout card at Webster Hall in New York City on Wednesday evening, December 18, 2013, was an absolute sellout smash. It definitely was an exciting bout-all two minutes and fifty-seven seconds of it.

With over 500 amateur fights, it seemed certain, even though the bout was scheduled for eight rounds, it would not last long. Against 2-4 Evan Nava of Salt Lake City, Utah, Khytrov took more than he gave as he felt his man out. Then Nava waved Khytrov in along the ropes. Khytrov obliged, through a power combination punctuated by a left hook which put Nava into dreamland, down on the canvas in a corner, prompting the stoppage.

Time tested and true, for WBA World Welterweight champion Buddy McGirt and Khytrov are going to make a great team! Paulie ‘Magic Man’ Maliognaggi, a current world welterweight champion, and Bernard Hopkins trainer Naazim Richardson, were among luminaries watching on with the capacity crowd at ringside. Marc Abrams provided the ring commentary for Gofightlive, which broadcast the card over the interview. After the boat, welterweight contender and promoter Dmitriy Salita translated from Ukrainian into English for Kytrov.

Result: Evhen Kytrov (Debut) TKO 1 Christian Nava, Middleweights

Time: 2:57 / Referee Gary Rosato / Knockdown prompts stoppage of the contest

Ex-champion and trainer Buddy McGirt was in the corner of Khytrov

Undercard results and an exclusive interview with Paulie Malignaggi to be posted later.
