UFC Fight Night Preview Kennedy vs. Natal
By Jesse Johnson, RCM MMA Correspondent
UFC fighters are getting closer to battling each other in front of the true warriors of the United States. Tim Kennedy is the best person to headline the charity show for the active troops.
UFC Fight Night will be the main focus of the brave men and woman working at Fort Campbell, Ky. Tim Kennedy, former special forces soldier, will be taking on Rafael Natal, not the tennis superstar, to headline the UFC’s third “Fight for the Troops” event.
Kennedy (1-0 UFC, 16-4 MMA) is scheduled for five rounds against Natal (5-2-1 UFC, 17-4-1 MMA) who looks to extend his current three-fight winning streak in the UFC. Both fighters will stand up and throw punches, but the question will be, for how long?
Another former marine on the card is former title challenger Liz Carmouche (1-1 UFC, 9-3 MMA). She will be fighting Port Colborne, Ont. native Alexis Davis (1-0 UFC, 14-5 MMA). Both fighters have great hands to keep each other wry standing up.
Brazilian Middleweight Ronny Markes (3-0 UFC, 14-1 MMA) fights Cuban wrestler Yoel Romero (1-0 UFC, 5-1 MMA).
Lightweights Jorge Masvidal (2-0 UFC, 25-7 MMA) and Rustam Khabilov (2-0 UFC, 16-1 MMA) square off to try extend their two-fight winning streaks.
Welterweight Michael Chiesa (2-1 UFC, 9-1 MMA) looks to bounce back from a loss by taking on Colton Smith (1-1 UFC, 3-2 MMA). Both have a good ground game but Chiesa’s experience will give him an edge.
Preliminary Card on Fox Sports 1 will include:
Lightweight James Krause vs. Bobby Green
Bantamweight George Roop vs. Francisco Rivera
Featherweight Dennis Bermudez vs. Steven Siler
Women’s Bantamweight Germaine de Randamie vs. Amanda Nunes
