Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald Set for UFC Fox 8

Las Vegas, NV (September 12th, 2013)– UFC Fight Night on Fox 9 will have a great fight lineup but one of the most highly anticipated bouts on the card is a fight between Urijah “The California Kid” Faber (29-6-0) will square off in his hometown of Sacramento with one of the UFC’s greatest Bantamweight talents, Michael “Mayday” McDonald (16-2-0). Faber, 34 is coming off of 3 straight wins over the likes of Iuri Alcantara, Scott Jorgensen, and Ivan Menjivar. Right now, Urijah is seemingly in tip-top shape and in vintage form. He’ll need to be heavily prepared to take out his opponent, Michael McDonald.
Michael “Mayday” McDonald, 22, is coming off of a win over a top rated competitor as well. He defeated Brad Pickett by a triangle choke in the 2nd round. He’s incredibly quick with his striking and has a top-notch submission game. He’ll have great attributes to bring to the octagon as he faces off with Faber. With this fight being between two top 10 rated bantamweights, it wouldn’t be crazy to think that the winner of this match-up could possibly be fighting interim champion, Renan Barao, if he retains the championship against Eddie Wineland. This fight will certainly be one to watch, for it could potentially decide the future of the bantamweight division. My opinion? McDonald is an exceptional athlete and fighter, but I’d have to give the edge to Urijah Faber due to his athleticism, strength, and his grind-out wrestling. Make sure to tune into UFC Fight Night on Fox 9on December 14th to witness the fight first-hand.
