Ishe Smith vs Carlos Molina

By Michael Fuentes, RCM Boxing Correspondent

In the second fight, we had Ishe Smith (25-5 11 KOs) vs. Carlos Molina (21-5-2 6 KOs) and in the early rounds, Carlos Molina started slow allowing Ishe to take control and use his jab to win the early rounds with the referee Jay Nady warning Molina numerous times about leading with his head and warning Smith for two low blows.  In rounds 4-7 showed more of Molina going in and pressuring Smith and winning those rounds in my opinion.  In rounds 9 and 10, Ishe showed why he is champion, sticking and moving and working well, winning those 2 rounds easily.  In rounds 11 and 12 was very competitive with both giving and taking with both rounds hard to judge.  In the end it was a SD win for Molina 117-111 Molina 116-112 Smith 116-112 Molina, a very controversial decision in my opinion.

Pablo Cesar Cano vs Ashley Theophane

To start out the biggest fight in history, we had Pablo Cesar Cano (27-3-1 20 Kos) vs. Ashley Theophane (33-6-1 10 Kos) in the opener and it did not disappoint.  It was a great way to get this epic night in boxing history started.  It was a classic boxer vs puncher.  Cano put in work in the early rounds and got off to a big lead hurting Theophane with a left hook in the 3rd and right hand in the 5th.  Theophane worked his way back in the fight with a great jab and combination punches.  In the end, Cano won a SD with one judge being very generous giving Theophane a 96-94 scorecard, but at least it was the right decision.  The other two judges had it correct, one had it 98-92 and the other had it 97-93
