UFC Fight Night 27 August 28th, 2013

By Jared Merkley, Real Combat Media MMA Correspondent

UFC Fight Night 27 is only days away now as we prepare for a clash between top 10 ranked welterweights, Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit (28-7) and Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann (20-6). The winner of this Welterweight bout could very well be next in line for the winner of GSP vs. number 1 contender Johny Hendricks. Needless to say, this is a very important fight for both of these men.

Condit, 29, is coming off of a 2 fight losing-streak. One of which, was to UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, and the other of which, was to number 1 contender, Johny Hendricks. That being said, “The Natural Born Killer” is going to do everything in his power to make it back into title contention. The only way there, is to beat his upcoming opponent Kampmann.

On the other hand, we have Kampmann, 31, whom is also coming off of a loss, looks to redeem himself with this fight against number 2 ranked contender, Carlos Condit. This loss was as well to the hands of Hendricks, which was a tough knockout loss for “The Hitman”. Now, with another shot into contention, Kampmann is determined to get a shot at the Welterweight champion and will stop at nothing to do so.

This will certainly be an event to watch. Both of these top 10 rated fighters are extermely well rounded, and I certainly see this fight going the distance. If you were to ask me of my opinion, I’d have to give the edge to Condit due to his unorthodox striking and great discipline. It’s going to come to splitting hairs between the two as we determine our next potential Welterweight contender. Make sure to tune into UFC Fight Night 27 on Fox Sports 1 on August 28th from Indianapolis, Indiana.
