David Price vs. Tony Thompson 2 Results

The Tiger is for Real

By Tom Mauriello,  Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Livingpool, UK (July 7th, 2013)– In an epic heavyweight fight held in the Echo Arena in Livingpool England, veteran American heavyweight Tony “The Tiger” Thompson (38-3, 26 KO) survived a second round knockdown to come back and stop England’s David Price (15-2, 13 KO) in an amazing battle.
Price came out with a purpose in round 1 looking to show the world that their first fight was a fluke. Things seemed to be going his way as he dropped Thompson with a huge right hand. Thompson was in trouble for the rest of the round as well as the third until he was able to capitalize on the low gas tank of the tremendous Englishmen.
Price, clearly gassed started to take punishment from Thompson. Tides changed and it was now the Englishmen in trouble. In 5, Thompson continued to punish Price until the referee was forced to interfere with a rare standing 8 count. Seeing that Price was in no shape to continue the fight was called off giving Tony Thompson an amazing victory.
Thompson brings some life in the relatively dead HW boxing scene in the United States, and lines himself up for some big pay days. With an English community now knowing him, I would love to see him take on the winner of David Haye and Tyson Fury, or one last shot at gold against the Klitschko brothers. The sky is the limit for the 41 year old, who has had a resurgence in his career with two shocking knockout victories.

As for Price, he has two huge question marks next to him that no fighter ever wants. His chin, and now his heart. A lot of work must be done to rebuild this fighter who has a lot of talent, and the size to make a big splash in the scene. Poor management allowing him to take his rematch right away. Hopefully he could recover from yet another knockout loss.
