Bernard Hopkins vs. Karo Murat Rescheduled for October 19th
Brooklyn, NY (July 20th, 2013)– Bernard Hopkins will face Karo Murat in a rescheduled fight on October 19, with the bout being moved from its original July 13 location at the Barclays Center to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City due to Murat having Visa issues. Showtime will likely televise the fight, but they have not bought the fight yet.
Hopkins (53-6-2, 32 KO) was scheduled to make a mandatory IBF title defense against Murat (25-1-1, 15 KO), but Murat ran into visa issues, and the bout was called off. It was expected then that Hopkins would face newly-named IBF mandatory Sergey Kovalev, but Showtime didn’t want that fight and Kovalev instead chose to face WBO titlist Nathan Cleverly on August 17 in Wales.
