Shogun Rua vs. Chael Sonnen is Set for UFC FOX Sports 1

Boston, MA (June 5th, 2013)– The talks for Mauricio Rua, age 31, (21-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) vs. Chael Sonnen, age 36, (27-13-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC), on UFC 161 was cancelled yesterday due to Shogun having visa issues. However, Shogun Rua has made an agreement to fight Chael Sonnen at UFC Fox Sports 1 in Boston, MA on August 17th at 205lbs.
This fight is very crucial for both fighter’s legacy since they are both coming off losses. The former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Shogun Rua, lost his last fight in December of 2012 to Alexander Gustafsson by decision. Chael Sonnen has lost his last two fights to Jon Jones and Anderson Silva on title fights.
This is the debut UFC card on Fox Sports 1, which will be an historic event. Check out this stacked card below.
