Bantamweight Genaro Poblanito Garcia Executed in Mexico

Puebla, Mexico(June 24th, 2013)– Bantamweight contender Genaro ‘Poblanito’ Garcia of Puebla, Mexico, who fought in world title bouts with Samson Dutch Boy Gym, Luis Alberto Perez, and Toshiaki Nishioka, and also fought the likes of Wilfredo Vasquez Jr., Cruz Carbajal, and Miguel Roman, has died at the age of 35. He was found dead in Mexico on Friday June 21, 2013, with four gunshot wounds to the head, and blows to various parts of the body. Armed men in a van pulled him out of his car. and took him to a farm where he was later killed.
Fighting between 1994 and 2012 as a super flyweight and bantamweight, Garcia compiled a career record of 39 wins and 10 losses with 23 knockouts. His better wins included victories over Victor Rabanales, Alejandro Sanabria, Evangelio Perez, Francisco Tejedor, Rafael Marquez, Ivan Alvarez, Maurcio Martinez. Julio Avila, Adonis Rivas, Oscar Arciniega, Rodolfo Martinez, Gerardo Espinoza, Miguel Oman and Genaro Camargo, all fighters with winning records.
In his last bout, Garcia knocked out 24-10-1 Eduardo Garcia in his hometown of Puebla on December 28, 2012. Besides Colombia and Mexico, Garcia also fought in Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Colorado and Connecticut. Garcia fought in 15 WBC regional title bouts, and held the WBC Fecombox bantamweight title from 2003 to 2007.
