By: Eli Garcia

Mannheim, Germany (May 5th, 2013)– Wladimir Klitschko dominates Francesco Pianeta in six rounds to retain the WBA and IBF Heavyweight titles.

The 37 year old Klitschko improved to 60-(3)-51, while Pianeta’s first taste of defeat brings him down to 28-(1)-1.

Klitschko used his jab to set up his signature straight right, which landed through out the entire fight. Pianeta came forward the entire fight and at times momentary managed to sneak in a right hook that landed on Klitschko’s chin.

This made Klitschko’s 14th title defense and 51st knockout. Pianeta was dropped in three times through out the bout. The final knock down coming in the 6th round came from a straight right that sent Pianeta against the rope.

According to ESPN, Klitschko is now in a third place tie with Larry Holmes for most victories in a Heavyweight Tittle fight with 21.

“After his battle against cancer, he deserves respect,” said Klitschko

“He tried everything to hit me. If he had landed one of the big punches, I wouldn’t have gotten up.”
