Manfredo The Pride of Providence Wins By UD.

Lincoln, Rhode Island (March 16th, 2013)– Super middleweight action between “The Pride of Providence” Peter Manfredo Jr. of Providence, Rhode Island vs. Walter Wright of Seattle, Washington. In front of a packed crowd the bout was scheduled for a total of 10 rounds. There was no title up for grabs and it went the distance. Manfredo came out on top and won by UD. The judges scored it 98-93, 100-90 and 97-93.
Round 1 not much going on. Pretty much both were taking it slow and feeling each other out. Round 2, A welt is appearing under the right eye of Wright. Round 3 Manfredo landed some great head/body combinations where Wright toyed with him as it didn’t phase him. Round 6 Manfredo landed a great right hook, then Wright came back with his own punishment. Now right below Manfredo’s right eye, it’s appearing to be swollen from Wright’s constant jabbing. Round 7 Manfredo landed a nice right hook. Round 9 early in the round the crowd was cheering “PETER!”. Manfredo ends up turning his back on Wright, Wright ended up chasing Manfredo and landed a few good shots on Manfredo. (hands up at all times and never turn your back). Round 10 Both came out swinging. Wright’s right eye looks almost closed. This fight wasn’t as action packed as I hoped.
Manfredo increased his record to (39-7-0) and Wright decreased his record to (14-4-0).
Co-main event: Super middleweights Reynaldo Rodriguez vs. Joe Gardner. It was Woonsocket, RI vs. Woonsocket, RI. The bout went the distance for a total of 6 rounds. Winner by UD Gardner. All three judges scored the bout the same three times, 58-56.
Both fighters showed true inner warrior spirit. Gardner was wobbled in round 1. Neither fighter hit the canvas during the entire fight. Both of these fighters came to fight and wanted the win. During round 3 Gardner landed a nice right hook but it didn’t stop Rodriguez from continuing on. I felt Rodriguez was better at cutting off the ring than Gardner and a heavier hitter.
Rodriguez decreased his record to 6-6-1 and Gardner increases his recorded to 11-5-1.
Other bouts of the evening:
Thomas Falowo vs. Julio Garcia. Winner by TKO Falowo after the completion of round 5 our of 6 rounds by the advise of the blue corner, the referee stopped the bout.
Emmanuel Medina vs. Benny “The Boss” Costantino. Winner by TKO during round 2, 2 minutes, 47 seconds into the round. The referee Eddie Claudio stops the bout due to Costantino being unable to continue due to a leg injury.
Paul Gonsalves vs. Kevin “The VT Bully” Cobbs. Winner Cobbs by SD after 4 rounds. Judges scored it 39-36 for Cobbs, 38-37 Gonsalves and 39-36 Cobbs.
Patryk Szymanski vs. Antonio Chaves Fernandez. Winner Szymanski UD after 6 rounds went to judges scorecards. Judges scored it 58-56, 59-55 and 60-54.
Vanessa Greco vs. Noemi Bosques. Female bantamweights went 4 rounds to a majority draw. Judges scored it 39-37, 38-38, 38-38.
