SOLO BOXEO TECATE WITH JONATHAN “BOMBA” GONZALEZ, FELIX VERDEJO AND GLEN TAPIA ON MARCH 23 WILL BE AT THE RUBEN ZAYAS MONTAÑEZ COLISEUM IN TRUJILLO ALTO, PUERTO RICO

The undefeated Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez, Felix “Diamante” Verdejo and Glen Tapia will headline the first 2013 show of Solo Boxeo Tecate in Puerto Rico to be broadcast on UniMas (formerly Telefutura) on March 23 at the Ruben Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation in association with Top Rank.

“We have a venue for this show. It will be the Ruben Zayas Montañez Coliseum, where we were on September, 2012, in a successful show. Trujillo Alto is a city with great boxing fans and we have Felix Verdejo, who trains in this town, as one of the co-main bouts”, PRBBP President Ivan Rivera said. “Besides Bomba Gonzalez, Verdejo and Tapia, we will have in action a good group of Puerto Rican prospects”.

The main event presents the WBO Youth flyweight champion and WBO flyweight #12 ranked, Bomba Gonzalez (11-0, 10 KOs) against a foe to be named in a fight scheduled to 10 rounds. Gonzalez come off a “no contest” bout against Omar Salado on February 2 when the fight ended in the very first round after an unintentional right hook by Gonzalez hit Salado on the back of his head and the Mexican couldn’t continue.

While, London 2012 Olympian, Verdejo (3-0, 2 KOs) will fight again in Puerto Rico and after his February 2 third round TKO over Jose Santiago. Verdejo will fight in a junior lightweight division bout scheduled to four rounds against a rival to be determined. The Puerto Rican prospect debuted on December, 2012, with an unanimous decision win over Leonardo Chavez in Las Vegas and then on January 19, 2013, scored a first round KO victory over Tomi Archambault.

In a six rounds junior middleweight fight, Glen Tapia (17-0, 10 KOs) will face a fighter to be named. For Tapia this will be his second fight in Puerto Rico. On July, 2012, Tapia won by a first round KO over Carlos Garcia in a show held at the Antonio R. Barcelo Coliseum in Toa Baja.

Prospects John Karl Sosa (5-0, 4 KOs), Osenohad “Cano” Vazquez (6-1-1, 2 KOs), Rafael “El Pollo Blanco” Gonzalez (8-1, 6 KOs) and Jeffrey Ramos (3-0, 2 KOs), among others, will fight in the card.
