Real Combat Media MMA Report: UFC Upcoming Notable Fight Schedule

Roselle Park, NJ– The UFC has made many fights the past few weeks and they have made a few adjustments in their future schedule because of recent injuries. Here are a few notable fights to look forward to in December and going into 2013.
December 14th on FX. Australian George Sotiropoulos will be fighting British star Ross Pearson in Australia. In a key Middleweight fight, Submission expert Rousimar Palhares takes on former Bellator Champion, Hector Lombard.
The Fox 5 card fight on December 8th in Seattle, WA will feature Ben Henderson vs. Nate Diaz for UFC Lightweight title.Mauricio Shogun Rua vs. Alexander Gustafsson in a 205lb contender fight. Also BJ Penn makes his return at 170lbs to take on the very tough 23 year old Rory Macdonald. Macdonald is a training partner of Georges St. Pierre. This will be the best Fox card of the year.
UFC TUF 16 finale on December 14th has been changed. Shane Carwin suffered a knee injury and will be replaced by Matt Mitrione. Mitrione will be taking on former TUF winner, Roy Nelson.
UFC 155 in Las Vegas, Nevada on December29th will feature a much anticipated rematch, as Junior Dos Santos defends his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Cain Velasquez. In the Co-main event Forrest Griffin will be fighting San Diego’s Phil Davis. Yushin Okami will be in a must win situation as he goes up against Alan Belcher. Belcher has won 4 straight fights. Kosta Philippou will step in for injured Chris Weidman against Tim Boetsch at UFC 155. Gray Maynard who injured his knee during training, will be replaced by Jim Miller. Miller will take on the scrappy Joe Lauzon.
On January 6 on Fox 6 in Chicago,IL, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis will take on Donald “The Cowboy” Cerone. This fight is still in question due to Pettis recovery from shoulder surgery. The winner would will most likely be in title contention at 155lbs. Rising superstar, Glover Teixera will be fighting Rampage Jackson. Rampage has told the UFC that this will be last appearance in the Octagon, win or lose. Demitrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will defending his 125lb championship against John Dodson.
January 19th UFC returns to FX as Michael Bisping takes on UFC legend Vitor Belfort.
UFC 156 card is stacked! UFC 156 will take place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 2nd. In the co-main event, Rashad Evans will be taking on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Jon Fitch will be taking on Submission Artist, Damian Maia at 170lbs. In a heavyweight contender fight, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva will be fighting Alistair Overeem. The winner will probably fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Jose Aldo is coming back from a motorcycle injury to defend his 145lb. championship against former 155lb. champ, Frankie Edgar. The New Jersey native will be making his 145lb. debut. Welterweight Erick Silva will fight veteran Jay Hieron on this already loaded card.
As long as Dan Henderson’s knee holds up, he will be taking on the Brazilian Karate expert and former Light Heavyweight Champ, Lyoto Machida at UFC 157 at the Honda Center in Anaheim on February 23rd. This is a very interesting fight because the two fighters are very different stylistically.
April 28th, Jon Jones will take on Chael Sonnen in a Light Heavyweight title fight at the Prudential Center in Newark.
In recent UFC News, Light Heavyweight Thiago Silva has been suspended 6 months for a positive marijuana test. His recent victory over Stanislav Nedkov has been ruled a no contest.
Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre is a possible superfight for May 2013. However, a catchweight and venues has not been agreed upon at this time. Johny Hendricks, who is the number one Welterweight contender seems to be Pierre’s other option. Right now Pierre and Silva are taking time off and have not made any decisions on fighting each other.
