“THE WAR” WILL BE BETWEEN WILFREDO VAZQUEZ JR. AND JONATHAN OQUENDO IN BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO ON OCTOBER 6; MARQUEZ IS OUT
Finally, “The War” will be between former world champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and world contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo on October 6 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation, in association with All Star Boxing, Top Rank and Promociones Zanfer to be broadcast on “Pay Per View”. “Rafael Marquez is facing health problems and work in some personal issues and will not fight against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.”, Peter Rivera, PRBBP Vice-President, said. “Now, we are going to make Vazquez Jr. against Oquendo, a fight long awaited by Puerto Rican fans” So, headlining the show, Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs), former WBO superbantamweight champion, will face Oquendo (22-2, 15 KOs), the #3 ranked by the WBO in the superbantamweights and the WBO Latino champion, for the WBO International 122lb title in a fight scheduled to 12 rounds. Also, former two time world champion Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon (35-2-1, 6 KOs), will face WBO minimum (105 pounds) champion Moises Fuentes (15-1, 7 KOs), from Mexico; #4 WBO lightweight ranked, unbeaten Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (20-0, 15 KOs) will face Eudy Bernardo (13-0, 8 KOs) for the WBO Latino lightweight title, and former Olympians Victor Bisbal (20-1, 14 KOs) and Alex Gonzalez (20-7, 10 KOs) will fight in a heavyweight bout scheduled to eight rounds.
