Updates on the Pacquiao vs. Bradley decision
By: Anthony L. Gonzalez
The WBO has decided to re-score the Bradley vs. Pacquiao rematch in order to widen the pool of judges. Last Saturday Jerry Roth and C.J. Ross scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Timothy Bradley.
WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel said 5 judges, from New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico, will re-score the bout and submit their work into the WBO by Monday. The purpose is not to over turn the decision, just to improve the quality of judging.
“We’re asking the ABC to make recommendations how a sanctioning body like ours can work better with a state commission, to use this experience to have better scoring in the future,” Valcarcel said.
“This wasn’t Bradley’s fault, and we’re not saying there was any evidence of fraud or corruption here,” Valcarcel said. “That’s outside the scope of what we’re doing.”
“There are excellent judges available internationally, and they should be considered,” Valcarcel said. “We’ve done it here in Puerto Rico, bringing in judges from Nevada.”
Valcarcel also said he is not challenging the credibility of his judges. “I have known Roth and Duane and Cynthia Ross for many, many years and they are wonderful, honest people and excellent judges,” Valcarcel said. “We just want Nevada to consider all of the judges. Nevada picks its judges and we want them to consider who we recommend. I gave them a list of 20 judges, from all around the world – New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, everywhere and they were great judges.
Bob Arum also has not accepted a rematch yet. Here is what Arum had to say.
“I don’t want to do a rematch,” Arum told The Las Vegas Sun. “This fight was a one-sided fight. If it had been scored properly, 10-2 or 9-3, who would be asking for a rematch? – Nobody.
“Just because these officials screwed up, that doesn’t justify a rematch.”
Arum also asked the Nevada commission to investigate himself.
“I asked them to investigate my involvement as a promoter. I want them to take my testimony,” added Arum.
Due to public outrage, the politicians are even getting involved in this matter. Harry Reid who is a Nevada Senator and a former amatuer boxer has decided to join the investigation.
“I feel confident there’s been nothing untoward,” Reid said Tuesday. “But if an investigation makes everyone feel better, do the investigation.”

I am still so angry at the extremely ridiculous decision by the judges of the Manny Pacquiao fight. Makes me think somebody got a boatload of money under the table. ????? No way did Manny lose this fight. >:o(
