Chan Sung Jung versus Dustin Poirier – Featherweight fight
In this title challenger decider, we have The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung pitting his guts-and-glory style against a fellow fully-rounded fighter in Dustin Poirier who has only one loss on his record. These lighter weight classes seldom fail to deliver for entertainment value so it makes sense for these two to headline the card. Add in the cache of a title fight to the winner and you’re good to go.
Last time out, the Korean Zombie KO’d former title challenger, Mark Hominick in only the second fastest KO in UFC history at 7 seconds. The time before that, he submitted fan-favourite, Leonard Garcia with a never before seen in The Octagon, “Twister” submission. Dustin Poirier is riding a 5-fight win streak winning all four of his fights in the UFC so far and is no slouch himself in the submission game having defeated Max Holloway by mounted triangle armbar and Pablo Garza by Darce choke in his last two outings.
Amir Sadollah versus Jorge Lopez – Welterweight fight
Ever likeable and constantly improving, TUF alumnus, Amir Sadollah faces a relative newcomer in Jorge Lopez, a member of Wanderlei Silva’s fight team who brings an impressive record from outside the UFC but has lost his only fight so far inside it. Any member of Wanderlei Silva’s team is expected to bring fireworks and win or lose, Amir Sadollah brings his ‘A’ game every time.
Donald Cerrone versus Jeremy Stephens – Lightweight fight
And as if that wasn’t enough for you, we have two of the most exciting and technical fighters in the lightweight division propping up the card as well! Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone otherwise tore up the lightweight division in the now defunct WEC despite dropping fights to the current UFC champion, Benson ‘Smooth’ Henderson and was blazing a trail of glory through the UFC until he ran into Benson Henderson’s next likely challenger in Nate Diaz. Jeremy Stephens, meanwhile may have notched up a few more losses but is a frequent winner of the Fight Of The Night and Knockout Of The Night bonuses. Cerrone will likely look to point this one out to get his title aspirations back on track but one glimpse of his chin and Jeremy Stephens will make him think about a new career.
