After a stunning upset over heavy favorite Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit has received an unusually large amount of flak from the media. Many fighters as well are giving him a large amount of grief, ranging from calling him scared and that his “running” took away from the fight. Everyone knows how Diaz’s camp feels about the loss, but Team Jackson hasn’t gotten the same amount of coverage. Let’s take a look at a few quotes.

Greg Jackson on the gameplan:

“This one is odd a little bit, because it’s really a no-brainer. If you look at the significant strikes, that’s got to count for something. All strikes, we outstruck him. Significant strikes, we outstruck him. So if you’re looking at numbers, that was all us. If you’re hitting him, not getting hit, and moving, I’m not really sure how you can score [the fight for Diaz].”

Malki Kawa, manager of Carlos Condit, on the gameplan:

“People are like, ‘Oh, Carlos is not a finisher,'” he continued. “The guy threw how many spinning elbows? How many spinning back fists? He threw a flying knee. He tried to finish Nick Diaz when the time and the opening was there. I can’t find a flaw in his performance.”

Malki Kawa on a possible rematch:

“At this point, [a rematch] is not something we’re looking to do,” he said. “We’re looking for Georges. People forget, Carlos waited a long time to get this fight. He was moved around, and shuffled around between fights. He won the fight. It doesn’t interest us at all. I think clearly and decisively, he won the fight. Even [UFC president] Dana [White] scored it for him. All of the opinions that matter scored Carlos as winner.”

Georges St-Pierre, a training partner of Carlos Condit and current UFC Welterweight Champion said,

“Congratulations to Carlos Condit and my friends Wonderboy and Rafael Natal for their wins this weekend. I still hope to meet Nick Diaz in the Octagon one day.

Dana was also vocal after the fight, saying that Condit has choice to wait for GSP, accept a new match. Maybe a rematch could get set up between Diaz and Condit, but I think a match against the winner of the Diego Sanchez and Jake Ellenberger is more then likely Condit’s preferred choice. That fight happens on Febuary 15th, but make sure to keep posted to Real Combat Media as an article covering that card will be up soon.
