Boxing Announcer David Diamante is Critically Injured in Brooklyn Motorcycle Accident

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (December 23rd, 2021)– Boxing’s television bearded celebrity noted boxing announcer David Diamante, also a world-class motorcyclist who had ridden around the world, was critically injured on Monday, December 19, 2021, while riding on Third Avenue on Brooklyn below the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.

The specific details have not yet been revealed. The accident itself was revealed by Thomas Hauser on Boxing Scene online. Diamante was taken to New York University Langone Health Medical Center in New York City with multiple broken ribs, three fractures to the spine, and serious damage to his right knee. Diamante underwent five hours of surgery Tuesday, during which he became the boxing’s new bionic man, with nine screws, multiple rods, and cadaver parts were inserted in his spine.

Diamante remained conscious and coherent. In a statement Wednesday, according to David “It’s going to be a tough road. It’s a bad injury (series of injuries sustained), and getting better will take some time. This will be a struggle. I’ll have to learn to walk again, and right now there’s a risk of complications. But, I have a positive attitude, and will be back as soon as possible.”

Diamante’s long-term prognosis remains unknown, and it could take months, even years, before he recovers to any degree, or even walks again. We at Real Combat Media wish David a successful convalescence and recovery in this difficult time in his life, and hope he makes it, and makes it back to his career in sports commentating which he does so well.
