Santo Domingo, DR (December 23rd, 2021)– In the main event of a 10 bout card at Hotel Catalonia Malecon Center, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Tuesday evening, December 20, 2021, Erick “Mini Pacman” Rosa came off the canvas in the tenth round to win the World Boxing Association World Minimumweight title in only his fifth professional bout.
Rosa, now 5-0 with one knockout, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, knocked down Victorio Saludar, 21-5 with 11 knockouts, Cagayan de Oro city, Philippines, in rounds three and nine. In July 2021, Rosa won the WBA interim World Minimumweight title with a 12 round decision over 21-0 Ricardo Astuvilka in Santo Domingo.
Rosa’s first three bouts were all World Boxing Council Latino Minimumweight title bouts, meaning Rosa has fought in five WBC or WBA regional and world title bouts in his first five bouts, an impressive start in a largely overlooked and underexplored weight class.
