Peterson-Khan rematch could be in jeopardy!
The rematch between IBF/WBA Jr. Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson and former champion Amir Khan could be possibly called off. Peterson allegedly failed an olympic style drug test and tested positive for synthetic testosterone. The test was conducted in March by VADA. It was actually Peterson who wanted Khan to undergo random blood and urine testing. The Peterson camp are being tight lip about the situation and commented that more information will be provided tomorrow.
Andre Johnson, a spokesperson for the Peterson camp had this to say:
“We have tremendous respect for VADA and its mission Lamont, Barry (Hunter) and the entire team emphatically support random drug testing in the most comprehensive manner possible. We are working expeditiously with a team of pathologists and other medical specialists to confirm the origin of the test result and in full compliance with the rules of the Nevada Athletic Commission.
“Lamont has never had a positive test either before or after this isolated occurrence and we plan to submit the medical findings by close of business Tuesday reflecting the actual facts in support of Lamont’s good faith intentions and the requirements of the commission.”We will have more on Real Combat Media as this story as it develops.
UPDATE: NSAC executive director, Keith Kizer, said he was told Peterson tested positive for “testosterone pellets” . These are steroids that are designed to absorb through your skin.
