From WBC Francophone to WBC Diamond, from WBC Champion of the Decade (Manny Pacquiao) to WBC Life Champion AKA ‘The Champion of Hope (Adonis Stevenson), some of these belts have been recognized by BoxRec and the wider sports audience, while others remain obscure, such as WBC Fecarbox and WBC Fecombox.
In this light, Tyson Fury was awarded the new historic World Boxing Council METTA Humanitarian Belt, a special award WBC championship belt created to celebrate the values of compassion, solidarity, and humanitarian service.
According to the WBC, a generous portion of the proceeds from the Tyson Fury versus Marius Wach card at Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, will benefit the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai organization dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children and young people. With his seventh-round stoppage of Wach, former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury added another milestone to his outstanding career, while becoming the first boxer ever to lift the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt, writing a new chapter in the history of the World Boxing Council. The event specifically benefited the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai organization dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children and young people.
Beyond the sporting result, the event carried a powerful humanitarian message. The bout was organized to support charitable causes and marked the inaugural presentation of the World Boxing Council METTA Humanitarian Belt, inspired by the Buddhist concept of “Metta,” symbolizing loving-kindness, compassion, and goodwill toward others.
