Jaafar Boxing Promotions Presents Hype Athletics Card in Detroit Suburbs

Detroit, Michigan (August 13, 2015)–  Amer Eddie Jaafar is a boxing promoter on the rise in the Detroit area, and is doing great things keep the sport flourishing with monthly cards. On Saturday evening, August 22, 2015, at Hype Recreation Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Jaafar will present an exciting ten bout card of pro boxing. IBF World Super Welterweight champion Cornelius K2 Bundrage, now training for his September 12 world title defense against Jermall Charlo at Foxwoods Resort, is among those Detroit area boxing luminaries expected to appear at the card.

Two six round bouts will be featured on the card. The main event will feature 5-0 undefeated cruiserweight prospect Demetrius Banks of Detroit, who is favored to win by knockout over 2-4 Karinn Davis of Jackson, Michigan. In the preliminary to the main event, undefeated 9-0 welterweight prospect Wesley ‘King Wes’ Tucker of Toledo, Ohio, is favored to win by knockout over 7-22-2 southpaw Rynell Griffin of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Eight four round prospects bouts will start the card. Undefeated 15-0 welterweight prospect Nicholas ‘King Beahan’ Givhan of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is favored to win by decision over 8-1-1 Freddy Durand of Saint-Brevin, France. Givhan is 29 years old, Durand in 19 years old. Givhan has beaten only one opponent with a winning record (by six round decision), while Durand has not (lost a six rounder to an unbeaten fighter). Durant has never fought outside of France. This particular matchup of young prospects could be extremely close. 5-1 southpaw super featherweight prospect Ernesto Garza III of Saginaw, Michigan, is favored to win by TKO over 1-1 Darryl Humphrey of Mount Morris, Michigan. Undefeated 7-0 bantamweight prospect James Smith of Detroit is favored to win by decision over 2-9-2 trial horse Stephon McIntyre of Jonesboro, Georgia.

In other bouts, 10-3 welterweight prospect Patrick Boozer of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is favored to win by knockout over 2-13 Antoine Elerson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Undefeated super welterweight prospect Angelo Snow of Toledo, Ohio, is predicted to win by decision over debuting Marian Flowers.

Two debuting local fighters, Abaron Briggs and Clayton Crossian, will open the card in a four rounder. Undefeated Detroit local favorites, 6-0 welterweight Michael Portillo and undefeated 6-0 heavyweight Craig Lewis, also scheduled to appear on the card against opponents to be named.
