Corey Quincy’s Preview Golovkin vs. Proska
By: Corey Quincy
Live on Saturday evening in two different locations we will see two major fights between top 6-7 Middleweight contenders, Firstly at around 5 PM EST/10 PM BST In a German Unification WBA Super Champ Felix Sturm faces off against skilled Aussie Boxer IBF Champion Daniel Geale live on multiple platforms including Main Event PPV in Australia, Boxnation in UK, and Sat-1 in Germany, plus live on HBO in the USA and Sky Sports in United Kingdom Kazakhstan Slugger Gennedy “GGG” Golovkin faces off against Poland’s Grezgorz Proksa in a battle of the best up and comers from Europe in the division. As noted in the title here we will see the best of the rest. Likely the next challenger for the lineal champ, Either Chavez Jr or Sergio Maravilla Martinez depending on who wins that big bout September 15th Expect fireworks from all parties, seeing the high stakes on the line in these great fights!
Golovkin, Proksa on the by far biggest spotlight of their careers on HBO, and seeing how these guys bang we will see one heck of a fight if both bring their A-games, Gennedy will be moving forward smartly working his way on the inside pressuring Proksa and staring to catch him in any opening possible, Proksa somewhat dumbly keeps his hands down and might get caught if he isn’t on the move, which he will very likely be. But he likes to trade also so don’t be shocked if GGG Golovkin can get him into one and the way he is. Very possibly finish him to impress US TV. Another way you have to look at it though also neither have fought guys on the same level of eachother. Kassim Ouma for Golovkin and Sebastian Sylvester for Proksa, although these wins were impressive stoppages you also must also see how far past prime both were and how they themselves are in their primes!
Overall I personally believe Golovkin has the power and mass to break down the stylistically limited Pole by the middle or later rounds. But nice fight still.
Now over in Germany, German star Felix Sturm who Fought many top names, De La Hoya who many thought he beat in 04, Matthew Macklin, Martin Murray the list goes on, now Geale’s best win now is a faded Sebastian Sylvester, a sluggish, Faded Germany former titleholder. So clearly experience favors Sturm likely, But Geale can box very well, not real flashy but an impressive skillset for a world class boxer. Sturm sometimes gets lazy at this point, view Macklin fight so he could be outboxed but in Germany who knows with judging in his favor. Not saying his legit power and solid skillset he himself has can’t give him victory though. We will see very interesting this one is.
In this one we will see a good chess match. Small exchanges, counter punching. Don’t expect a war though. A nice and closely fought tactical bout. I’ll pick Sturm. Home turf advantage. Experience. Again though it will be close.
Yeah so this is surely worth tuning into seeing the big doors that open for the winners, actually if the winners fough eachother it would set up an extremely solid world class challenger for the winner of Martinez-Chavez. If it is someone know in The USA maybe on PPV seeing the unification it gets nice promotional value.
