Kiev, Ukraine (December 11th, 2024)– Former World Heavyweight champion Wladimir ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ Klitschko, age 48, who fought in 22 consecutive regional and world title bouts and last fought in 2017, has had his name floated as a possible comeback in 2025.
Dr. Klitschko’s name was put on the table and mentioned as a potential 2025 next challenger for International Boxing Federation World Heavyweight title champion Daniel Dubois. “There was a very five-minute conversation about that,” Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, told Boxing News. “It was a suggestion made but it didn’t happen.”
Longtime Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko brothers promoter Tom Leoffler, who runs 360 Promotions, stated recently “I’ll let Wladimir speak for himself on that.” Loeffler, who started K2 Promotions named after the Klitschkos, and who now runs 360 Promotions, made the statement in a recent interview with Randy Gordon and Gerry Cooney, hosts of At the Fights on SiriusXM.
Klitschko, 64-5 with 54 knockouts, Kyiv, Ukraine, was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2021. Wladimir has held the WBO, IBF and IBO versions of the world heavyweight title, but never the WBC and WBA versions of the world heavyweight title.
