Paul vs. Rahman Jr. Press Conference

JAKE PAUL VS. HASIM RAHMAN JR. PRESS CONFERENCE VIDEO

By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media Head Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (July 14th, 2022)– Hasmin Rahman Jr., 12-1 with six knockouts, Baltimore, Maryland (son of the former World Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman), coming off a sixth-round stoppage loss in April 2022 to James McKensie Morrison (son of the late World Heavyweight champion Tommy “The Duke” Morrison), will now square off in the Madison Square Garden Showtime Pay-Per-View cruiserweight main event against Jake Paul, 5-0 with four knockouts, fighting out of Dorado, Puerto Rico, on August 6, 2022.

Jake Paul is coming off a knockout victory over former UFC champ, Tyron Woodley. This fight with Rahman Jr is a replacement after Tommy Fury, the half-brother of Tyson Fury, was denied entry to the US with his Visa after the Fury family had alleged ties to the Irish Crime family, Daniel Kinahan, who is wanted by the US government.

The matchup, which will not lead to the next light heavyweight or cruiserweight challenger for Dmitry Bivol or Jai Opeteia, will either take the pay-per-view viewer on a trip to boxing heavyweight heaven, or a trip to boxing heavyweight hell, depending on how seriously the fighters train, how good or bad the matchup is, and how seriously or not the boxing public and the general public see the match. Paul is predicted to win by eight-round decision with the odds maker as this will be the first time Rahman Jr. is cutting to the Cruiserweight division at a catch weight of 195lbs. Paul is trained by former Cruiserweight world title contender, BJ Flores.

If the money is good for the combatants, maybe Iron Mike Tyson or Conor McGregor will fight the winner in the future. As for social media icons engaging in pro boxing careers, anything which provides the general public with reasonable entertainment during the pandemic is evidently to be tolerated.

In the preliminary to the main event, Amanda Serrano, 42-2-1 with 30 knockouts, Brooklyn, New York, fresh off her lightweight 12-round split decision loss to Katie Taylor, is predicted to win by 12-round decision or late round stoppage in defense of her WBC, WBO and IBO World Female Featherweight titles over Brenda Karen Carbajal, 18-5-1 with nine knockouts, San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina, the WBO Interim Female World champion. The only question for Serrano is what weight class she is most comfortable fighting in. A rematch with Taylor remains the best big money viable option for Serrano in the future.
