Tragedy! Son of Hall of Fame Boxer Erik Morales, Fernando Morales, Dies At Age 23

 Tijuana, Mexico (December 2nd, 2021)– Fernando Morales, the second son of Hall of Fame boxer Erik “Terrible” Morales, has died at age 23. The death was announced on social media. No cause was disclosed. Morales, 52-9 with 36 knockouts, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, fought between 1993 and 2012, winning titles at super bantamweight, featherweight, super featherweight, and super lightweight. Morales also fought for, but did not win, a share of the world lightweight title.

Morales, who fought Manny Pacquiao three times, beating him the first time, is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Morales, who has held political office, supervises the Tijuana Department of Parks and Recreation, and donates his salary to charity, and also works as a boxing trainer and promoter.

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, in an official WBC statement, said The boxing community of the world joins in prayer and grief for the passing away of Erik Morales’ son Fernando. May the grace of God stay close to him and his family during this process.” Former boxing rival Marco Antonio Barrera also sent a message of support on Twitter: “My condolences to @terrible100. There are no words. A big hug and a lot of encouragement.”
