Latin Boxing Champion and Olympian Carlos Burga Dies of Coronavirus at 68

 Lima, Peru (January 23rd, 2021)– Latin American Peruvian amateur boxing champion Carlos Burga, who represented Peru at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany, at welterweight, and served as Peru’s national amateur sports representative, later a professional boxing referee and boxing judge, died in Peru on January 18, 2021, of Covid-19 Novel coronavirus. Burga also competed for Peru at the 1975 seventh Pan American Games in Mexico City, Mexico.
