Salita Promotions Presents Detroit Brawl at Masonic Temple Featuring 20-0 Bernardo
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Detroit, Michigan (February 1, 2016)– Dmitriy Salita Promotions and new sponsor Greektown Casino Hotel will present an exciting ten bout card of pro boxing on Saturday evening, February 6, 2016, at the Masonic Temple in downtown Detroit, Michigan.
The six round co-main event bout will feature world ranked cruiserweight Junior Anthony Wright, 14-1-1 with 11 knockouts, Evanston, Illinois, versus Chris ‘Nightmare’ Stallworth, 9-3 with three knockouts, Homewood, Pennsylvania. Wright is predicted to turn Stallworth’s comeback attempt evening after a four year layoff into a nightmare for sure. Wright will knock out Stallworth within four rounds, sending the 40 year old Stallworth into permanent retirement.
In the other six round co-main event, undefeated lightweight prospect Eudy ‘AK 47’ Bernardo, 20-0 with 14 knockouts, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will face former Ghanaian Featherweight champion Ben ‘Miracle’ Odamattey, 16-12-3 with nine knockouts, Accra Ghana. There’s no miracle in this bout, though. Bernardo should stop or knock out Odamattey at some point, given Odamattey is 0-10 fighting outside of his native Ghana.
8-0 Detroit bantamweight prospect James Gordon Smith (no relation to the former world heavyweight champion James ‘Bonecrusher’ Smith) will face the opponent known as ‘Little Superman’ of Minnesota, Antwan Robertson, a trial horse with a record of 10-14-1 with six knockouts. Smith will win by decision, as he is still relatively inexperienced. However, this bout is a bit of a step up for him against the sometimes durable Robertson.
The Fighting Policeman, lightweight Dimash Niyazov, 8-0-3 with four knockouts, Brooklyn, New York, will get in a few rounds of work en route to knocking out journeyman James Lester. 10-9 with four knockouts, Detroit, Michigan. Lester has lost seven of his last nine, and Niyazov has good power in both hands. Once hit, Lester might go, perhaps sooner rather than letter.
Detroit welterweight prospect Ed Williams, 10-1-1, coming off an upset loss in Louisiana to Marcus Beckford, is predicted to win by six round decision over 4-2-1 Angel Figueroa of Lorain, Ohio. Williams has never beaten a fighter with a winning record, and he will have to work for this win.
5-0 Detroit light heavyweight prospect James Ballard is predicted to win by decision over well-travelled gatekeeper Nathan Bedwell, 5-15, Jackson, Tennessee, whose last name sounds like something out of the Civil War. Bedwell’s last four opponents have a combined record of 37-0-1. The only one of those four who stopped Bedwell got knocked down by Bedwell twice. This bout could be a barnstormer while it lasts.
In the big boy bout of the night, cruiserweight Emilio Salas, 4-1-1 with two k knockouts, Coamo, Puerto Rico, is predicted to win by knockout in two rounds over Karinn Davis, 2-5, Jackson, Michigan. Salas has never beaten a fighter with a winning record. He did not make it out of the first round with Demetrius Banks last August. Salas should find the mark soon enough. The card will open with two boxing debuts. Super welterweight Antonio Wade, 1-0, Detroit, will face debuting Jessie Addison of Saginaw, Michigan.
Super welterweight Kevin Shacks, 0-1, Haslett, Michigan, will face Serdar Hudayberdiyev of Turkmenistan.
