Queens, NY (May 31st, 2015)– In the main event of a ten bout card promoted by Kevin O’Sullivan New Legend Boxing, on Saturday evening, May 29, 2015, at Resorts New World Casino in Queens, New York, Light heavyweight contender and New York City firefighter Will ‘Power Rosinsky won an eight round unanimous decision over Dion Savage, also known as Shujaa El Amin. Savage legally changed his name some time ago, but at this bout, he was still announced as Dion Savage, and wore ‘Dion’ on his trunks.
Rosinsky, now 19-2 with ten knockouts, Lynbrook, New York, spent eight long rounds chasing Savage and attacking his guard with jabs on the inside. Savage, now 12-7 with six knockouts, Flint, Michigan, had clear size advantage, but was not skilled enough to use it to his advantage, box Rosinsky from distance range from the outside and sustain it for very long. Against a light heavyweight, Rosinsky’s power was neutralized by Savage’s constant holding. Rosinsky would be wise to return to the lower 160 pound middleweight division.
Savage fought the entire eight rounds in a defensive shell for the most part, moving well enough and avoiding Rosinsky’s power by keeping his arms up in defense all night. Savage might have won one round, the fourth, when he let his hands go and was a bit busier.
Rosinsky was forced to win on points, The crowd got its money’s worth as Rosinsky versus savage went the eight round distance. Savage took a few chances in the last three rounds, opening up on occasion and throwing combinations when it appeared Rosinsky could be tiring. Rosinsky was sharp, though, and Savage retreated quickly back into his shell.
Result: Will Rosinsky Win 10 Dion Savage, Light Heavyweights
