51 YEAR OLD RAZOR RUDDOCK MAKES HIS RETURN
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Toronto, CA (March 29th, 2015)– Donavan Razor Ruddock had been out of the ring for 14 years when he stepped back into the ring at Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday evening, March 28, 2015, for an improbable comeback against 6’7” giant Raymond Olubowale of Toronto. For four rounds, the smaller 6’3” Ruddock got hit by Olubowale’s jabs, and finally got dropped at the end of round four. It looked all over, but Ruddock courageously just beat the count, and took a standing eight count as the round ended.
Late in the fifth round, Ruddock’s once famed left hand, missing all night, found the mark with a left uppercut and wobbled Olubowale. A second left uppercut found the mark, anesthetizing Olubowale down and out on his back after a delayed reaction. Ruddock is now 39-5-1, Weston, Ontario, Canada. Oblubowale, a Nigerian now fighting out of Toronto, Canada, falls to 10-7-1, seven knockouts.
With the comeback win, Ruddock set up a possible challenge against 8-2 Dillion Carman of Mississauga, Ontario, for Carman’s Canadian Heavyweight title. The Canadian Professional Boxing Council Heavy weight title is vacant and is also available. Could Razor Ruddock make a significant comeback at this point? For what would a heavyweight boxer have left if you took away his dream? Others have tried to return to the ring and failed. Razor Ruddock, who did battle with Mike Tyron, Lennox Lewis, Tommy Morrison, Michael Dokes, Greg Page, and others, back in the day, still has a gift for the fight game.
