Terminator 28-0 Harry Simon, Best 28-0 Double Champion You’ve Never Heard Of
By Robert Brizel, Head RCM Boxing Correspondent
Harry ‘The Terminator’ Simon of Namibia is now 28-0 and 41 years old, and has dominated in every weight class from light middleweight to heavyweight. He has won all six of the world title bouts he has fought at light middleweight and middleweight. Simon lost several years of his career due to his conviction from a car accident in which he was held responsible for the deaths of three people.
Simon fought only once between April 2002 and February 2010, in March 2007 in Namibia. As such, Simon’s four bouts from 2010 onward have taken place in Kenya and Namibia under the radar. Simon, who has fought and won in the United Kingdom, Denmark, South Africa, Puerto Rico and Canada, seems not to care much where his bouts take place.
He might care more about his International Boxing Federation International Light Heavyweight title bout to be held September 29, 2013 against 23-8-1 Geard Ajetovic, a Servia fighting out of England who is the current IBF Super Middleweight International champion. A shot at the title bout winner of Adonis Stevenson versus Tavoris Cloud fro the WBC title, Bernard Hopkins versus Karo Murat for the IBF title, WBA champion Beibut Shumanov, WBO champion Sergei Kovalev, or IBO champion Anderzej Fonfara, could be offered to the winner of Simon versus Ajetovic. Probably Hopkins, the current IBF champion, if he beats Murat, would be the best match for Simon if he beats Ajetovic. Despite his 28-0 record, Simon would be a longshot to defeat Hopkins at Barclays Center in 2014. Because Simon is 28-0 and also 41 years old, Simon would be a desirable opponent for the 48 year old Hopkins after the Murat bout coming up at Barclays.
At 5’10”, Simon has been a specialist at getting inside on opponents such as Winky Wright and outboxing them, and eventually stopping them. Hopkins is an elusive target and a defensive specialist. Simon should be able to beat Ajetovic by 12 round decision, in the most difficult bout Simon has had in years. Simon is a natural light heavyweight at this point in the game. Despite his 28-0 unblemished record, Simon has never been seen in a bout taking place in the mainland United States.
