I had the honor to conduct a brief Q & A with the hard-hitting Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman Jr. ahead of the biggest bout of his career against the skilful Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana. This is his second fight on HBO, his only other being against Orlando Lora. In his 18 bouts to date only one of his opponents has gone the distance.

Jon. Campbell: Proudest achievement to date?

Keith Thurman Jr.: Would have to be getting a silver medal in the 2008 US Olympic trials.

Jon.Campbell: Favourite current boxer and why?

Keith Thurman Jr.: Andre ward cause he knows the game like the back of his hand and I don’t know if anyone is going to beat him he is truly a great fighter.

Jon.Campbell: Favorite boxer of all-time and why?

Keith Thurman: I got a small list but for the most part Mike Tyson because he was a KO artist and I really looked up to that when I was young in boxing and watching his highlights just gives me the desire to be a beast in the ring.

Jon.Campbell: Favorite fight of all-time and why?

Keith. Thurman Jr.: Marvin Hagler VS Tommy Hearns that fight truly was the best 3rd rounds in boxing history and hearns being cut in round 1 of the fight truly shows you what heart is all about.

Jon.Campbell: Who would you fight tomorrow if you could and why?

Keith Thurman Jr.: Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the simple fact he is the king and I would like a shot at the crown.

Jon.Campbell: Most difficult fight to date and why?

Keith Thurman Jr.: Back in 07 when I was an amateur I fought Charles Hatley in Colorado Springs. Fights in Colorado were never easy, due to the altitude, but I was knocked down twice in the fight. A flash knock down in round one then a left hook in round two after I dropped him in that very rd with a left hook of mine. I lost the fight by 5 points but that fight was not about point to me it was all about pride. we fought 3 times in the amateurs 2 wins and 1 loss.
Jon.Campbell: Ultimate goal in boxing?

Keith Thurman Jr.: My ultimate goal is to go down in history it’s not about the belts or the money it about living a dream the dream I had as a little kid to make it in some boxing history book and to be some other kids mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali

Jon.Campbell: What do you think of Ricky Hatton’s comeback?

Keith Thurman Jr.: I think you have to win to comeback so let see who he bets if he wins and go from there he might still have a few good performances in him.

Jon.Campbell: What do you make of your next opponent, Carlos Quintana? Would you agree that despite your obvious talents, stylistically this could be a tough fight for you?

Keith Thurman Jr.: I think only top fighters have beat him so this is a really good fight to prove that I am a top fighter and yes I see him as the toughest fight to date in my pro career but these are the type of fight that I want to make in the world of boxing.
