
Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder to Attempt Comeback On June 27 in Kansas

Wichita, Kansas (March 29th, 2025)– Former World Heavyweight champion Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder, inactive since being stopped by Zhilei Zhang at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in June 2024, will attempt a comeback after a year of inactivity in Wichita, Kansas, in the main event, at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas, on June 27, 2025, in the main event, according to a press release by the Global Combat Collective (GCC).
Wilder, 43-4-1 with 42 knockouts, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, ranked 34th in the world on BoxRec at age 39, will fight Tyrrell Anthony Herndon, 24-5 with 15 knockouts, age 37, San Antonio, Texas. Herndon is 5-0 in bouts scheduled for eight, 10 and 12 rounds. Herndon has won his last three fights, the last two being split decision wins of six rounds and 10 rounds. Meanwhile, has lost four of his last five bouts in the last five years, having been stopped or knocked out three times in his most recent four losses.
Ring Magazine had reported in January 2025 Wilder had originally signed to fight Jacksonville heavyweight Curtis Harper in a bout which had been scheduled for April 26 in Atlanta which never took place.
