British Boxing and Sports Postponed Due to Passing of Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at age 96, after 70 years and 214 days of rule over the United Kingdom and its British Commonwealth realms. British Boxing Board of Control General Secretary Robert Smith announced Friday all United Kingdom sports shows would be postponed this weekend. His official statement: “The British Boxing Board of Control decided all tournaments (scheduled sports competitions) this weekend will be postponed as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We join as a nation in mourning, and pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, honoring her dedication to our country during her long reign, and the legacy (of achievement) she leaves behind.”
