Fisher Survives a Grueling Main Event

Dana White’s Post-Fight Press Conference on Fury vs. Joshua
The backdrop is a promotional dispute that has hung over the fight since Netflix announced it for December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The release named White and Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring as promoters, while Eddie Hearn says Joshua’s contract bars White, Zuffa Boxing, and TKO from any promotional role, as RCM reported Thursday. The Zuffa Boxing broadcast complicated things first. He accused a reporter of asking “leading questions” and demanded to know if he had anything “relevant to this evening.” Pressed on the state of the fight itself, he said, “I don’t know if the fight’s happening,” called the situation a mess, and said everyone would know more in “three, four days.” He said he had no idea whether the planned Wednesday press conference in London would go ahead, and when asked if he would step back to keep the fight on track, he said that wasn’t his call. Fury has publicly welcomed White’s involvement and criticized Hearn, and earlier in the week he called out both Joshua and Hearn after reports the deal could fall apart.

December 11 in Cardiff remains the advertised date, and the next checkpoint is a kickoff press conference scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, in London. A clean appearance from White, Hearn, Fury, and Joshua would suggest the sides have found at least a temporary arrangement.
