Unknown 15-0 Thai Fighter Apinun Khongsong Scores Incredible Upset in Japan

Tokyo, Japan(February 19th, 2019)– Unbeaten but unknown 15-0 Thai super lightweight Apinun Khongsong of Bangkok traveled to Tokyo, Japan, and scored an unpredictable, unlikely and shocking fifth-round knockout in hostile territory of 31-7-1 Japanese contender Akihiro Hondo at Korokuen Hall, on February 18, 2019 at 1:47 of the fifth round in the main event of a six-bout card.



Khongsong, a former International Boxing Federation Asia and Pan Pacific Super Lightweight regional champion, is unknown and was never seen outside of Thailand. Hondo, a former World Boxing Organization Super Lightweight Asia Pacific regional champion in 2016, lost a 12 round decision for the vacant International Boxing Federation World Super Lightweight title to Sergey Lipinets at Barclays Center in November 2017.
