The Hexecutioner, Amazing Hekkie Budler
Editorial By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
The nickname ‘The Hexecutioner’ can never be overlooked. Hekkie Budler of Johannesburg, South Africa, is the unquestionable king of the minimum weight and light flyweight boxers. Budler has fought the best of the best in these weight classes for more than a decade, compiling a record 32-3 with ten knockouts. His three losses were decisions in world title bouts.
Budler currently holds the IBF and World Boxing Association Super World Flyweight titles. Budler has fought an incredible fifteen 12 round bouts which have gone the distance, and has figured into an incredible 21 All-Africa or world title bouts of the WBA, IBF and IBO. Budler is both a fine technical fighter and a hard puncher, never to be underestimated. At 30 years old, his eleven-year boxing career may yet take into the flyweight division next. It can safely be said Budler remains largely unknown because the lower weight classes are not of great interest. However, he remains among the most dangerous champions in the lower weight classes.
Budler has yet to appear in a WBC or WBO regional or world title bout. A titular unification bout may his best future option, if he remains at light flyweight for now, short of moving up in weight class.
