Inglewood, California (April 23, 2016)— The fabulous Forum, hosted a big drama show Saturday night. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) improves his winning streak and knockout streak by making easy work of Dominic Wade (18-1, 12 KOs).
Golovkin demolished Wade in two rounds and the fight came to an end after the third knocked down, that was caused by a devastating right hand. Since the fight between GGG vs Wade was announced, everyone knew that Wade would not last in the ring with the fan favorite knock out artist. The fans love GGG, and even though they believe any fighter that is put up in front of him, that opponent will not last. The fans still want to be a part of the show and witness the strong dominance performance of Golovkin over his opponent.
When Dominic Wade was asked about Golovkin’s power, his responds was,
“His power is real! I tried to get comfortable. Once he started hitting me, I couldn’t do that. He is a great champion. … He does everything well.”
Now that Wade is out of the picture, the next big question is, who is next for Golovkin? Will it be the Mexican superstar, Canelo Alvarez, or someone else? The boxing world has its eyes on the fight between Golovkin and Alvarez. Golovkin’s main goal is to become the lineal middleweight champion and that is why it makes perfect sense to pursue a fight with Canelo.
The WBC has made it clear that the winner of the May 7th PPV showdown between Canelo vs Khan, will have to face and defend the WBC Middleweight Title against Golovkin
During an interview with HBO’s Max Kellerman, Golovkin stated, “give me my belt! I want my belt.” In regards to a fight with Canelo Alvarez
Roman Gonzalez vs McWilliams Arroyo
The Ring Magazine and Real Combat Media pound-for-pound king, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez improved his record to (45-0. 38 KOs), after defeating McWilliams Arroyo (16-3, 12 KOs) via unanimous decision.
Gonzalez showed a dominant performance over Arroyo in his third consecutive fight under a Golovkin headliner. Arroyo showed some heart in the ring as he took Gonzalez to the distance and broke Gonzalez’s ten knock out streak.
“It was a very difficult fight,” Gonzalez said. “Arroyo moves very well. He knows how to avoid the punches. I wanted to fight him, I wanted to roll him and catch him with counter punches, but it was difficult because he moved quite a bit.”
While interviewing Gonzalez, HBO’s Max Kellerman brought up the topic of Gonzalez’s weight. Roman weighed in at 126lbs Saturday night, while he fights at 112. Max asked Chocolatito if he plans on moving up in weight or if he would continue to fight at 112lbs. Gonzalez responded,
“My conditioning was fantastic,” Gonzalez said. “Training in Costa Rica made all the difference in the world. I think maybe one more fight at 112 and then I move up to 115. I want to fight the best possible opponent.”
The best possible fight for Gonzalez at this time is a rematch bout against Mexican champion, Francisco Estrada. A fight that was very close and full of action. The rematch between Gonzalez and Estrada have been in the works for some time now. This late summer can be the the moment of when this big fight takes place. The fight will probably be televised by HBO as its own main event.
