The North American Allied fight Series will return to Canton, Ohio this October 4th with yet another loaded professional fight card. This will be the promotions fifth event in the Hall of Fame city which also serves as NAAFS home base. “As most NAAFS fans know, I was born and raised in Canton which is regarded as a tough, gritty, blue collar city that loves its sports,” stated NAAFS CEO and Canton native Greg Kalikas. “We usually try to load up these cards when we come to Canton and deliver the most exciting event possible which I believe we will deliver once again. The Civic Center is one of the best arena’s we visit and it should be rocking come October 4th!”
This particular event “Rock N Rumble” will be the leagues eighth annual installment and will feature musical guest Mike Owens performing live during intermission but make no mistake about it, it’s the loaded fight card fans will be in attendance to see this fall. The main event features a rescheduled super fight between former NAAFS champion Cody “The Wolverine” Stevens (11-7) and current champion Frank “The Tank” Caraballo (13-7) who will put his featherweight title on the line. With both fighters having already tasted NAAFS gold, a win on October 4th could propel one of these warriors right back into prominence on a global scale. Regardless of the outcome, this is one fight local fans have been waiting to witness for nearly seven years when both of these fighters were tearing up the NAAFS amateur circuit.
The nights co-main event will be for the prized NAAFS bantamweight crown when former featherweight contender Antonio Castillo Jr. (8-4), drops to 135 lbs to face current champion Bryan Goldsby (18-14). Goldsby has won four of his last five including capturing the NAAFS bantamweight title back in March of 2013 in Canton. Meanwhile Castillo has reeled off four straight wins and six out of seven with his lone loss coming during his title fight with current champ Caraballo. This is another fight with perhaps a bigger prize at the end of the rainbow besides the coveted NAAFS belt.
Rock N Rumble 8 will see the return of Cody “No Love” Garbrandt (4-0) to the NAAFS cage when he takes on the always dangerous Charles Stanford (5-2). Garbrandt has gotten off to a 4-0 start to his pro career under the tutelage of team Alpha Male head coach and former world Champion Urijah Faber who will be in Garbrandts corner in Canton. Many insiders speculate that Garbrandt could be one big win away from a shot with the UFC or another major organization. Stanford will look to steal Grabrandt’s thunder to make his own name on October 4th and has good reason to be optimistic. Stanford has won four of his last five fights with his only loss a decision to perhaps the country’s top bantamweight prospect at that time in Isaiah Chapman. Chapman has since gone on to sign with the World Series of Fighting while Stanford sees this as his chance to put his stamp on the bantamweight division and place his name among the sports elite prospects.
The pro card will also feature a heavyweight collision between NAAFS veterans in former HW champ Big John Hawk (9-5) and former #1 contender Bobby Brents (14-4). This could be a title fight in most situations and the winner may find himself in that position after this crucial NAAFS bout. Both fighters are known for their aggressive styles and great chins which make this a fight no true fight fan will want to miss.
West Virginia’s “Wild Wild” Wes Hanson (3-0), perhaps the Midwest’s top young featherweight prospect, returns to Ohio looking for his fourth straight win to kick off his professional career. Hanson will face Canada’s Matt DiMarcantonio (5-4) who makes his NAAFS debut and looks for career win number six as a pro.
Jeff Hughes (0-0) makes his professional debut against Devon Wilson while RJ Buck (1-0) looks to go 2-0 as a pro coming while posting an impressive 12-4 record as an amateur.
