Revenge in Spades! Hawaiian Mongoose Eileen Olszewski Wins IFBA Title at Age 45
By Robert Brizel, Head RCM Boxing Correspondent
Newly crowned world champion Eileen ‘The Hawaiian Mongoose’ Olszewski began boxing at age 38 professionally. At age 45, Olszewski, a former world champion, has joined such famous company as Archie Moore and Bernard Hopkins.
Olszewski, a former WIBA and GBU world flyweight champion, won the IFBA version of the female world flyweight title with an eighth round stoppage of Patricia Alvicar in Queens, New York, on September 25, 2013. Previously Alvicar had won an eight round decision over Olszewski in March 2013 for the New York State Flyweight title.
After punching Alvicar’s right eye swollen and bloodying her nose, Olszewski ascends to number ten in the world among female flyweights on BoxRec, the highest such rating after Hopkins-who is ranked first among male light heavyweights on BoxRec at age 48. Olszewski stands alone among Hawaiian born current world boxing champions. She’s the only one since Brian Viloria lost his crowns.
Boxrec world ranked # 3 flyweight Hawaiian born Brian Viloria held the WBA and WBO World Flyweight titles, but lost them by 12 round split decision to BoxRec # 1 world ranked flyweight Juan Francisco Estrada in Macao, China, in April 2013. Southpaw lightweight Andrew Ganigan of Hawaii held the WAA version of the world lightweight title in 1981, then knocked down Alexis Arguello in a CBS television bout Ganigan lost for the WBC lightweight title in May 1982. Ganigan retired after a loss to Jimmy Paul in 1983.

This was an Outstanding match. It completely blew me away. Congratulations Olszewski!!
