A review of Tomasz Adamek vs. Eddie Chambers
By: Jon Campbell

Last night in NJ the IBF North American Heavyweight title changed hands as the Polish Tomasz Adamek (46-2) beat the Philadelphia-based Eddie Chambers (36-2) by a UD. I was prepared to watch a great bout between two evenly-matched fighters who I enjoy watching, until unfortunately in the very first round Chambers hurt his left arm rendering it close to useless. Despite this he done well in completing the 12 rounds but had little chance to win the bout as he certainly required all his facilities intact. I had the bout 117-111 as although Chambers demonstrated his abilities he was not doing enough to claim the rounds himself, not only this but the tough Adamek put some good work in.

Adamek turned up as expected and remained tough throughout, he constantly plodded forward and turning up the heat in attempts to out-work the savvy American and hopefully get a stoppage. What else he done well at moments was getting on the inside and getting good body shots in. Chambers despite the frustration of not being able to fight to the best of his abilities done very well and in switching to southpaw allowing his to lead with his right showed some good skills.

Moving on from this, the two are still top contenders and will continue their careers. It would not be a terrible idea for the two to have a rematch due to the unforeseen incidents. I think not only would it be fair to Chambers and he would certainly want a chance to redeem himself. Not only this but Adamek would no doubt be happy to do this again and hopefully end the fight with a KO.

Besides the rematch Adamek deserves a big fight to follow from this and in my opinion he is certainly in the small handful of top contenders deserving of another title shot. This defeat for Chambers will not really knock him too far backwards in his career due to his arm and the fact he was in against a tough cookie. I personally wish to see a rematch were both the fighters are fully fit as I believe it would be very close and a fight worth watching as opposed to the somewhat disappointing bout last night were Chambers was at a significant disadvantage.

To conclude, I predict Chavez Jr. will win a close decision, possibly going down in the early rounds until he finds his rhythm and may even stop Lee later on in the bout. Should he win chances is he will be able to get a title shot at Super-Middleweight after a couple of fights.
