From Tae Kwon Do to Junior Middleweight: Evan Holyfield Story

At thirteen years old, Evan Holyfield was the top-ranked Tae Kwon Do fighter in his weight class in the United States. Now, at age 21, 1-0 with one knockout, Houston, Texas, Evan Holyfield, son of former World Heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, is making his mark in the professional ranks of the junior middleweight division. Evan is signed with main events.
One of eleven children, Evan had 80 amateur fights and reached the U.S. amateur team semifinals. He is also the author of the inspirational book ’12 Rounds of Winning for the Youth’. Evan is being managed and trained at Fighter Nation Boxing Gym in Houston, Texas, by former world super lightweight contender Maurice ‘Termite Watkins, 61-5-2 with 42 knockouts, who fought Saoul Mamby for the WBC World Super Lightweight title at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in December 1960 Evan’s strength and conditioning coach in Tim Hallmark, best known for his strength and conditioning work with Evan’s dad Evander Holyfield. Hallmark is the designer of the athletic training equipment for CenterForce and SymmetriCore.
Evan is the only child of former world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield to become a boxer. Other children of former world heavyweight champions and contenders have tried it, such as the children of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Tony Tubbs, and Buster Mathis. Evan also has an athletically talented brother. Elijah Holyfield is a running back for the Carolina Panthers pro football team.
