Crazy Upset! Hassan Mwakinyo Blows Away Sam Eggington in Birmingham at 1:02 of the Second – Video Highlights
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Birmingham, UK (September 9, 2018)– In a crazy upset, Hassan Mwakinyo, fighting on one week’s notice, blew away the career of Sam Eggington, battering him from pillar to post and stopping him at Arena Birmingham in the United Kingdom in the brief and brutal space of less than two rounds.
Eggington took a pasting near the end of the first, and Mwakinyo, now 12-2 with eight knockouts, Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, came out for round two well prepared and closed the show immediately. Eggington could not hold, could not defend, got hit with nonstop straight left and right hands to the head, and was finished out on his feet wobbled and beaten up.
The bout took place at junior middleweight, where Eggington, 23-5 with 15 knockouts, Sotourbridge, United Kingdom, a former British BBBofC, Commonwealth British Empire and WBO European Welterweight champion, was swimming in unknown waters. Mwakinyo, age 23, who has risen to sixteenth in the world in the BoxRec rankings at 154 pounds, will next fight Wanik Awdijan for the International Boxing Federation Youth Middleweight title in Nuremberg, Germany, next month in a scheduled 10 rounder.
