Alexander-Bailey Pushed back, Bailey injured.
By: Corey Quincy
You will likely be sad to hear next Saturday September 8th’s bout between Knockout powered Veteran IBF Welterweight Champion Randall Bailey and top contender Devon Alexander has been cancelled due to a back injury suffered by the newly-crowned champ Bailey in his training camp for the big Showtime televised bout.
Good news is it is already confirmed to be rescheduled either on the Oct. 20th big card at Barclays also on Showtime Championship Boxing featuring three big fights already, Legend Erik Morales going for one final shot verses Philly talent WBA/WBC Champ Danny Garcia who he fought once already loosing a close but clear UD in March, Paulie Malignaggi defending his new WBA Welterweight title against Pablo C. Cano and Hassan N’Dam NJikam facing Peter Quillin for Vacant WBO Middleweight crown, Alexander-Baily would make it a Quadrupleheader or another card in the making one Week later featuring Bantumweight bests slick Panamanian Anselmo Moreno and Abner Mares. Bottom line is it will happen late October as both parties want it to. Seeing the injury isn’t too bad Baily will be back in camp in 2 weeks or less. Alexander sooner.
The card will still go on Sept. 8th though, also good news featuring a big bout title eliminator between bangers Lucas Matthysse or Argentina and Ajose Olusegun in the new main event. Now sold as a ” Special Shobox ”.
Bailey won his IBF title June 9th on the big Pacquiao-Bradley PPV. Doing near nothing the first 9 and then scoring two of his key power right hands to twice knock down Mike Jones to steal the vacant strap in brutal fashion. Breaking his nose in one od the top KOs I have seen in a while. Alexander well earned this shot by outboxing Argentine warrior Marcos ” El Chino ” Maidana a few months before in shutout fashion. Good Boxer vs Power Puncher bout to now look further ahead to.
