Gladiators Return to the Pula Arena
The gladiators are set to return to the Pula Arena this Saturday, September 2, as Fight Night Championship (FNC) 12 takes place within the walls of this historic venue.
Built 2,000 years ago by the Romans, the Pula Arena played host to ancient gladiatorial battles and is one of few remaining amphitheatres still standing today. Rivalling the famous Colosseum in Rome for beauty, this arena is nestled in the Croatian coastal town of Pula.
Headlining FNC 12 is a heavyweight title fight between champion Ivan Vitasovic (11-5-1) and heavyweight destroyer Michal Andryszak (22-5).
Hailing from Pula, Vitasovic is trained by the legendary Pride & Dream veteran, Zelg Galesic. The 31-year-old is currently on a five-fight win-streak which includes notable stoppage victories over MMA veterans Geronimo dos Santos and Oli Thompson.
However, now he goes up against one of the most feared heavyweights in Europe. Andryszak possesses a 100% finishing ratio and is known for his devastating first round stoppages. The 31-year-old is also a former KSW heavyweight title contender and comes into this bout on a three-fight win-streak.
Two new FNC champions will also be crowned on this monumental evening. Croatia’s Matej Batinic (19-5) meets the undefeated Gadzhimurad Khebdeev (7-0) for the inaugural light heavyweight title in a potentially explosive affair while Serbia’s Nikola Joksovic (11-1) clashes with Austria’s Marko Kisic (9-3) for the inaugural welterweight crown.
The rest of the card is filled with prospects and veterans of the Balkan MMA scene along with fighters from around the world coming to do battle in the truly unique setting of the Pula Arena.
FNC 12 will be available to watch live around the world via online PPV on FNC.tv! |
