London, UK (January 23, 2023)– With their Saudi Arabia showdown scheduled for February 25, 2023, for either eight of 10 rounds in the 200 pound cruiserweight division, rising British cruiserweight prospect Tommy ‘TNT’ Fury, 8-0 with six knockouts, Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom, the brother of lineal and current world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, remains the underdog for his February 25, 2023, Pay-Per-View confrontation against social influencer Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul, 6-0 with four knockouts, Dorado, Puerto Rico. The clash promises to make both men the biggest money earners in boxing history behind Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, due purely to Jake Paul’s social media reputation and internet prefight hype, and not ant special boxing proficiency or ability or contender status.
Paul is coming off an eight round decision win over aging MMA fighter and UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva at Gila River Arena in Glendale, California, on October 29, 2022, in which Jake Paul dropped Silva in the eighth and final round to secure the unanimous decision win on all three scorecards by scores of 78-73, 78-73 and 77-74. Tommy Fury last fought on April 23, 2022, at Wembley Arena, Wembley, United Kingdom, winning every round 60-54 in a six round unanimous decision over 10-1 Daniel Bocianski, a bout in which Bocianski was cut over the left eye and down in the fifth round.
The more the controversy, the greater the hype, and this mega bout has power in social media circles, due to the influence of Jake Paul, and Tommy’s status as the brother of Tyson Fury, who is always in the public eye at the moment. This will be the third attempt to pull off the match between Tommy Fury and Jake Paul. They were first supposed to square off in December 2021. However, Fury, the younger half-brother of World Heavyweight champion Tyson ‘The Gypsy King’ Fury, withdrew from the scheduled bout with a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib. In the scheduled bout reboot, Tommy and Jake were again set to fight last August 2022 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, but the Manchester-born Fury was denied entry to the United States.
