TRIBUTE TO THE KINGS WEIGH-IN, PRESS CONFERENCE & PREVIEW

Double Chavez Tribute To The Kings Guadalajara Boxing Card Preview

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (June 19th, 2021)– USA beIN Sports en Espanol and Fite PPV will present a boxing card on Saturday, June 19, 2021, Estadio Jalisco, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, featuring the first bout at cruiserweight for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in an eight rounder, and the exhibition farewell of his legendary father Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. in a six rounder. At this point, 12 of the 14 bouts scheduled on BoxRec will take place, plus the Chavez Sr. exhibition. The first seven bouts will be streamed on globalsportsstreaming.com. The main card is on FITE TV Pay- Per-View. Commentary will be offered in both English and Spanish.

Chavez Jr., 52-5-1 with 24 knockouts, Culican, Sinaloa, Mexico, will face Anderson Silva, a 46-year-old martial artist, 1-1 with one knockout, Los Angeles, California, by way of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Chavez Jr. should make short work of Silva, whose boxing appearances in 1998 and 2005 were limited, a first round knockout loss in his debut to Osmar Luiz Teixeira, and a subsequent second round knockout over a pro debut.

Hall of Fame multidivisional world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 107-6-2 with 55 knockouts, Culican, Jalisco, Mexico, has been active since a fifth round stoppage loss to Grover Wiley in Phoenix, Arizona, in September 2005. In a revenge for his 1992 victory over the late Hector “Macho” Camacho Sr., Chavez will face Hector Camacho Jr., 59-7-1 with 33 knockouts, New York City by way of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A southpaw, Camacho Jr. has been knocked out in the first round by David Lemieux, while Chavez Sr. fought his entire career between 117 and 151 pounds. This exhibition is senseless revenge, as Camacho Jr. has fought as high as 175 pounds.
