Demecillo & Valavanis Victorious, New WBF Champions

Cairo, Egypt (December 3rd, 2016)– A busy weekend of World Boxing Federation (WBF) championship boxing kicked off with two fights on Friday night (December 2), taking place in Cebu City, Philippines and Cairo, Egypt respectively. Both match-ups saw local favorites emerge victorious from entertaining bouts.

At the Mandaue City Sports & Cultural Complex in Cebu, reigning WBF Asia Pacific champion Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo won the vacant WBF Intercontinental Bantamweight title with a unanimous decision over fellow countryman Jestoni Autida.

Judges Teddy Alivio, Edgar Olalo and Arnie Najera all scored the fight, promoted by Omega Promotions, 97-93 in favor of Demecillo, who improved his record to 12-3-2 (7), while Autida drops to 9-6 (4). Referee in charge of the action was Tony Pesons.

In Cairo, at the Greek Club, Heliopolis, Andre “King Cheetah” Valavanis engaged in a real shoot-out with Tanzanian co-challenger Maono Ally before winning the vacant WBF International Super Welterweight title by second round technical knockout as a result of well-placed body-shots.

Hard-punching Valavanis, who already holds the WBF All Africa title at Welterweight, takes his unblemished ledger to 7-0 (6), and sends Ally back to Tanzania at 5-2 (2). Billed as “Big City Dreams”, the fight headlined a show promoted by L.B. Sports Promotions in association with Fitbox.
