RONDA ROUSEY PREPARES FOR AMANDA NUNES WITH OLYMPIC BOXER, MIKAELA MAYER
Los Angeles, CA (October 23, 2016)– After a year off former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey will face Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30th in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena.
An expert on the ground with her Olympic Judo background, Rousey’s biggest weakness is her striking, as seen in the Holly Holm loss last year by a head kick KO. At the time she was having problems with her boxing and Holm was controlling the range with lateral movement and with her stiff jab.
Since she’s fighting another devastating striker in Nunes, she has brought in an elite training partner Olympic boxer Mikaela Mayer to help with her boxing.
Mayer represented the United States as part of Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the women’s 60-kilogram weight class. She was eliminated in the quarterfinals, one win short of securing at least a bronze medal.
On Saturday, Mayer posted on Instagram a photo of her and Rousey following their first sparring session together.
