Albuquerque, NM (September 29, 2015)– Former UFC champion Jon Jones was in court Monday and during the proceedings plead guilty to a felony charge of fleeing the scene, which is a 4th degree felony.
Jones was offered a plea deal, which the judge accepted. Jones’ lawyer talked on his behalf for a while, telling the judge that he’s remorseful and had already apologized to the pregnant women he crashed in to.
He also talked about Jones’ work with children since the incident. Jones did speak during the hearing, apologizing to the court and to the women he crashed in to. He asked the judge for a second chance. His legal team also asked that he be able to have one firearm in his home, for self-protection.
The judge told him he was lucky. Then he was sentenced to up to 18 months of supervised probation. He’s also required to make 72 appearances that includes working with Boys and Girls clubs. The judge said his manager needs to get in contact with all the grade schools and have Jones’ talk to them all.
